Working on Unama’ki,
Cape Breton Island

“ My work explores connections to Acadian and Scottish ancestry through drawing and painting. I do this by working with maps, spending time connecting to land and learning through research and felt experience of all my lineages. Part of this work involves curiosity and allowing for an intuitive approach during creation in the studio. “

“ My hope is that this project will connect the community in a quiet moment of relating to all the tender experiences we’ve collectively been through the past few years, she says. I hope it reminds us to continue to hold awareness of the emotional after-effects and continued turbulence we’ve collectively experienced remerging into society again. “

Film worker

Jacqueline’s experience in film is varied; she has produced, acted, worked in art departments and more recently has worked on a completed set decoration role on the feature film Feed, shot in Cape Breton.

She’ll be attending Unama’ki’ Cape Breton’s first film festival in late September 2026, as part of the screening for Here Lies Daniel, written and directed by Corey Katz. She’s interested in continuing to work in the film industry in Cape Breton whether producing or part of the crew.
